What are some good baby name Resources ?
Choosing the name for your little
one is not an easy job. In fact it can be quite an emotional
experience. There are a lot of factors to consider before
freezing on a final choice and most importantly it must be one
that will be loved by both the parents and the child.
Though there are no rules for
choosing a name, listed below are a few tips that I think will
help the would-be parents to make a correct decision
Please don’t hasten or rush
– It is a good idea to keep a list of likeable names in your
mind or jotted in your personal diary. But remember, don’t name
your little one until you hold it in your hands and look into
those beautiful eyes-you will know what name will be perfect!
Discuss with others – One of
the most common questions that the expecting parents are asked
is “do you want a boy or girl?” The next question in the row is
“what will you name your child?” It is actually a great idea to
discuss with your family and friends about the name – make this
a team effort. Trust me, this will be really fun! Organize for a
baby naming party; consult your family tree; call all those
people who you have not met or spoken to for a while. Of course,
the final choice will be yours, but everyone will be happy as
they will feel that they were helpful in playing a role in an
important family decision.

Speak out
the name – Ever wondered how it will sound! First
tell the name softly, and then say it aloud. How does it sound?
Does it have a soft rhythm? How does it go with the middle name
or the family name? Do you like really like it? Also think of
the nicknames, say them loud. Does the name sound familiar with
the names of your other children or that of your close family
and friends? If so, it is better to avoid. Sometimes familiar
sounding names can be a little confusing.
Check the spelling – When it
comes to naming the baby, most of the parents get really
creative. Unfortunately, this is always not a great idea. Exotic
and creative spellings and pronunciations (as you see how
difficult it is to spell or even try to pronounce the ‘celebrity
baby names’!) though popular can be a little stressful for the
child – I assure you they will need constant corrections.

Give a name
that has meaning – It is important that the baby’s
name should be pleasant and highlight the qualities that you
hope that your child should possess. Choosing names which are
unusual might make your child stand out but remember it might
also cause problems in some cases. Your baby will be carrying
this name all through his/her life; so think before you choose.
Also select names that are gender specific so that other people
don’t have problems in realizing whether the name belongs to a
girl or boy!
Naming
ceremony
After the birth of the child, the naming ceremony is generally
hosted with a lot of grandeur and importance. It is definitely
one of the most significant events after the infant’s birth.
Naming ceremonies are present in almost all the countries and
cultures across the globe. In ancient times, people considered
this as a great tradition as it means that the little one starts
a new life and enters into a new community. They believed that
babies are God’s gift to human beings though how the gift was
given was unclear. With the advent of science and technology,
the facts like why and how a child is born are clearly
explained. However, the miracle of a birth is surely a cause for
joy and celebration in the family. Though the naming ceremonies
of different religions vary in different ways, there are certain
common features that are based on the universal heritage.

Welcoming the child into the family and community
The birth of a child is a very proud moment for the parents. The
family, friends, neighbors and society all share the joy and
glory of this miracle. The Christening or Baptism (Christian)
and Briss (Jewish) are all naming ceremonies of various cultures
of the world and they all serve the same purpose – welcoming the
new guest into the community. It is interesting to note that
these ceremonies perform two functions – primarily introducing
the child and reflecting the concept that each adult who is a
present in the ceremony is in part responsible for the wellbeing
of the child. This is why various gifts are showered on the
baby.
Announcement
of the chosen name
According to some cultures the child is named after the name of
some respected family member or the parent or the grandparent.
Some others give the name of some deceased relative to pay
respect to the ancestor; while in others priests |

or others religious heads are consulted
to provide names that will bring good fortune to the infant.
Whatever, the method is, the choice of the name is important and the
naming ceremony serves the purpose of giving this baby a unique
identity to exist in this world – with a name that has a meaning
along with other unique individuals. Traditionally after the
ceremony, the name is explained in front of all the guests. The
popular names differ from one country to another, for one region to
another and from one culture to another.
Thanks to the internet, naming of your child has become somewhat
easier than what it was in the past. With the click of the mouse,
you can access a variety of names from all parts of the world. Of
course selecting the right one is certainly not easy, but it is
definitely very helpful. There are a wide number of websites that
are solely dedicated to child names depending on the country, race,
