• The only fabric that you must
select for your kid is cotton. Cotton is soft and hence
comfortable to wear and remove. Refrain from buying other fancy
fabrics as they might cause irritation on the baby’s skin.
• Babies grow very fast. It is therefore good to buy clothes
that are one size bigger. At times hands down from close family
and friends are also a good idea (but ensure that the clothes
are in very good condition). As babies outgrow their clothes
very fast, the second clothes are generally in an almost “new
state” with minimal usage.
• I know you get definitely tempted when you see those adorable
baby outfits. But wait! Try and understand; is this dress
comfortable for my baby? In many cases, I have seen parents
struggling with these so called cute looking outfits as many of
them do not have an easy access to diaper changes, clothing
changes and so on. Try and settle down for clothes that have
snap crotches as these are extremely useful when you need to
change diapers; the necklines of the clothes must be broad so
that the baby’s head can slip in easily.
• It is also important to buy clothes that are season specific.
So before going berserk on your shopping spree, think! Which
time of the year are you expecting the baby. Also buy some all
season wears like onesies and sleepers.
• Take extra precautions during winter as your baby is prone to
cough and cold. Try to keep them warm. Carrying an extra pair of
socks, sweaters and woolen caps are advisable. It is a must to
put on warm clothes if you are venturing out of the house.
Wearing fur clothes also keep them warm.
• You must always buy elastic waistbands and trousers. They are
much for comfortable and easily removable.
